Esta é a primeira vez em 30 anos que os indicados vem exclusivamente dos votos dos integrantes da Academia e não passará por uma revisão final de um comitê. Outra mudança acontece nas quatro principais categorias (Revelação, Gravação, Música do Ano e Álbum do Ano): os indicados passam de 8 para 10.
O Grammy 2022 acontecerá no dia 31 de janeiro, em Los Angeles, no antigo Staples Center, agora Crypto.com Arena.
Jon Batiste é o grande indicado do ano, em 11 categorias. Ele foi seguido por Justin Bieber (8), Doja Cat (8), H.E.R. (8), Billie Eilish (7) e Olivia Rodrigo (7).
