Em carreiras solo, integrantes do Fifth Harmony e do One Direction se destacaram tanto entre os vencedores como no palco do programa. Normani, Ally Brooke e Lauren Jauregui compareceram ao evento. Lauren e Normani foram premiadas. Uma pela parceria com Steve Aoki e a outra pela colaboração com Khalid. Já Camila Cabello, ausente, levou os prêmios de “Artista Feminina”, “Música de uma Artista Feminina” por “Havana” e “Artista Feminina do Verão”. Entre o pessoal do One Direction, Louis Tomlinson recebeu ao vivo o prêmio “Artista Masculino” enquanto Harry Styles, ausente, foi eleito a “Turnê de Verão” e Liam Payne, que também não compareceu, recebeu por “Familiar” a maioria dos votos em “Música Latina”.
